Espacio is proud to provide creative direction and design for Truth Across Borders, an upcoming public event that brings together two of the most respected voices in journalism for a timely and thought-provoking conversation on the role of media today. Presented by Arizona State University, Tiempo Company, and Grupo Planeta, “Truth Across Borders” will take place on April 14 at ASU and feature a live, bilingual discussion between Marty Baron, former Executive Editor of The Washington Post, and Jorge Ramos, longtime Univision anchor and one of the most trusted figures in Spanish-language news.
Moderated by Javier Marin, Executive Chairman of Tiempo Company and advocate for Spanish-language media, this evening invites both students and the public to reflect on journalism’s impact in a rapidly evolving world.
Baron is widely recognized for his editorial leadership at The Boston Globe, The Miami Herald, and The Washington Post, where his work contributed to multiple Pulitzer Prize-winning investigations. His recent book, Collision of Power: Trump, Bezos, and The Washington Post, offers an inside look at the challenges facing modern journalism.
Ramos, a multi-Emmy Award-winning journalist and bestselling author, has spent decades reporting across the Americas, often focusing on immigration, democracy, and human rights. His latest book, Así veo las cosas, continues his commitment to fearless, independent journalism.
“As a media owner, I believe it is crucial to highlight the role of journalists in shaping public understanding and fighting for the truth, even when it’s difficult,” says Marin. “Marty Baron and Jorge Ramos are not just experts; they are forces for good journalism.”
In addition to the conversation, attendees will be able to explore a special exhibition in the lobby featuring archival footage, personal artifacts, and highlights from the careers of both speakers.
At a time when trust in media is being tested and the industry is undergoing profound transformation, “Truth Across Borders” offers a vital space for dialogue, reflection, and insight.
